As per the Official CBSE Science SQP 2025-26, the paper is divided into three major sections based on subject categories:

2. Typology of Questions

Aligned with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 goals, the 2026 pattern features a significant shift in weightage:

Competency-Focused Questions (50%): These include MCQs, case-based studies, and source-based integrated questions that test the application of concepts in real-life scenarios.
Objective Type Questions (20%): Standard one-mark MCQs and Assertion-Reasoning items to test quick conceptual clarity.
Constructed Response Questions (30%): Traditional short and long-answer questions requiring descriptive and analytical explanations.

3. Marking Scheme & Evaluation

Theory Total: 80 Marks (3 Hours).
